Nursing Graduate programs

The Nursing Graduate Program provides a positive and supportive environment in which graduate nurses are encouraged to develop both clinically and professionally while gaining exposure to a variety of clinical specialties. The program is designed to provide an environment that develops the confidence and competence of the graduate nurse.

Various Graduate Programs Offered in Nursing

There are various graduate programs being offered in Nursing and these depend on the student’s preference for their field of expertise. The following programs allow a US RN to earn his or her master’s degree either in medical-surgical adult nursing, neonatal and pediatric nursing, obstetric and gynecological health nursing, psychiatric and mental health nursing, nursing education, nursing informatics and nursing administration to name a few. For those who already have their master’s and would want to earn their doctorate degree, there are also graduate programs for these as well including Doctor in Nursing practice and Doctor in Philosophy also to name a few.

There are four types of master’s degree programs in nursing. Graduate programs such as Master’s degrees can be used as bridging programs to various nursing specializations. Some credits earned in taking such will ultimately be credited, thus making the length of time to finish the course shorter. The following programs may possibly fast-track your way to a master’s degree: RN to MSN programs, BSN to MSN programs, ADN to MSN programs and ASN to MSN programs.

Duration of Courses

Most graduate programs have 2 years duration. However, there are online programs that can be taken for a year, provided that the student manages their time and has to make sure that they enroll in all courses required for them to graduate. Since online programs are self-paced, students may opt to study full-time and possibly finish the course within a year. Some of the universities that offer 12-month master’s degree program include Sacred Heart University, Northern Arizona University, University of Massachusetts-Boston, Belmont University, National University, University of South Carolina and the University of South Alabama.
